The hubby and I made several day trips to other parts of Tuscany. We visited Siena, also known as the Gothic City, which is an enchanting medieval town. I love Piazza del Campo. Its unique sloping, shell shaped square serves as a communal sunbed to scores of day trippers on a clear sunny day. It was a pity that it had to pour that day. Otherwise, we would love to have a little picnic on the square and bask in the sunshine.
Medieval buildings which exude character and charm.
The Plazzo Pubblico.
Soaring above it, is the tower Torre del Mangia and on the ground floor is Museo Civico which houses a rich collection of Sienese Art.

SAN GIMIGNANO
==============
We also visited San Gimignano. This tiny hilltop town is registered on the list of Unesco's world cultural and natural heritage and it is famous for its numerous soaring towers. Originally 72 towers were built as monuments to the town's wealth but only 13 remained today, with Torre Grossa being the tallest one.
